The straight grain and rich color of the cherry tree made it a desirable wood for constructing luxury furniture during the 18th century. This beautiful example is our period commode, which was hand-carved in France in c1750
 
 
The colour is amazing with a shaped top, decorated side panels, and three deep drawers.  Also lovely shaped front feet.
 
The handles and escutcheons are beautiful and original.
 
The cherrywood commode will make a strong impression on any bedroom in which it is placed.
 
Good antique condition, with wear commensurate to age and use, including minor nicks, rubs, and age separations.
