Serpentine French Bedside Tables c1930

Serpentine French Bedside Tables c1930

These are incredibly elegant. The "serpentine" shape—so named because it mimics the undulating, S-curve of a serpent—is one of the most sophisticated silhouettes in French cabinetry.

By c.1930, this style was often a "Louis XV Revival" piece. While Art Deco was the height of fashion in Paris, many French cabinet makers continued to produce these curvaceous, feminine designs for clients who preferred the classic "Chateau" look.

These have two drawers with decorative brass handles and are beautifully inlaid.
